# Dashboard notifications

> Choose what Kampp tells you about while you work with the dashboard open.

Notifications are the alerts that pop up on your computer when something happens — even if
you're on another tab.

They live in **Settings → Notifications**.

## Turning them on for the first time

<Steps>
  <Step title="Allow them in the browser">
    The first time, the browser asks for permission. You have to accept — without it, Kampp
    can't tell you anything.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose what you want to get">
    Turn each of the three alerts on or off.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Test">
    Use the **Test** button to fire a sample notification, with sound. If it doesn't show
    up, the browser permission is denied.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## The three alerts

| Alert | When it fires |
| - | - |
| **Workout completed** | An athlete finished a workout. |
| **New message** | An athlete sent you a message in the chat. |
| **Workouts expiring** | Delivered workouts are reaching the end of their window. |

<Tip>
  With a lot of athletes, **Workout completed** turns into noise and you end up ignoring
  everything. In that case, keep only **New message** and **Workouts expiring** — and follow
  the completions on the dashboard, in your own time.
</Tip>

## The dashboard bell

Apart from browser notifications, the **bell** at the top of the dashboard keeps Kampp's
notices. There you can mark as read, mark as unread and remove.

When there's nothing pending, it shows **All caught up**.

## New messages when you're on another tab

With the **New message** notification on, besides the browser alert Kampp plays a short beep
and puts the counter in the **tab title** — so you see `(3) Kampp` without even looking at
the dashboard.

<Note>
  These notifications are only for **you, on the dashboard**. The alerts that reach the
  athlete's phone are a different thing — see [Kampp Flow](/en/flow-what-is) and
  [broadcast messages](/en/chat-broadcast).
