# Athlete metrics

> Volume, frequency, records per exercise and weight progress — what the numbers say about the athlete's evolution.

The **Metrics** tab, inside the athlete's profile, is where completed workouts turn into
progress.

## Pick the period

At the top there are three buttons: **4 weeks**, **12 weeks** and **6 months**. Everything
on the screen follows that choice, and the numbers come compared with the previous period
(**vs previous period**).

## The four numbers

| Card | What it measures |
| - | - |
| **Workouts** | How many sessions they finished in the period. |
| **Frequency** | The weekly average. |
| **Total time** | How long they spent training. |
| **Total volume** | The total weight moved (kg or tonnes). |

<Tip>
  The most honest number here is **Frequency**. Volume goes up and down with the type of
  workout; frequency shows whether the person is actually showing up.
</Tip>

## Progress per exercise

A list of the exercises they performed, with the **record** for each one: max weight, max
reps, estimated 1RM, max volume or best time.

**Click an exercise** to open the detail, with:

* **Load progress** — a chart of how the load went up over time (needs at least two
  sessions with that exercise).
* **Personal records** — max weight, best 1RM, max reps, best volume, best time.
* **Strength** — the best set they did.
* **Volume** and **Frequency** — total sessions, sets and reps, and when the last one was.

<Tip>
  This is the screen that answers "can I add weight to their bench press?" with data
  instead of memory.
</Tip>

## The charts

* **Session duration** — how long their workouts last, split into ranges (under 20 min,
  20–40, 40–60, 60+).
* **Weight progress** — current weight and the change over the period.
* **Volume per week** — how many kilos they moved each week.

## Where these numbers come from

Everything comes from what the athlete does in the app:

* **finishing the workouts** you assigned → feeds workouts, time, volume and duration;
* **logging sets and loads** → feeds progress per exercise and the records;
* **logging weight** in **Profile → Measurements** in the app → feeds weight progress.

<Warning>
  Only the workouts **you** assigned show up here. The athlete's own workouts, or ones from
  another coach, don't count — which is why the numbers can look low for someone who also
  trains elsewhere.
</Warning>

<Note>
  With no data in the period, Kampp suggests widening the window or assigning new workouts.
  If the athlete trains but nothing shows up, check that they're **finishing** the workout
  in the app, not just opening it.
